A “Sweet Shoppe” First Birthday Party with Heartfelt Meaning

The Horne family started the most generous and heartfelt tradition on sweet Kennedy’s first birthday. Instead of the guests bringing gifts for her to open, Mom and Dad asked the guests to bring toys for a drive to our local children’s hospital, Levine. When they submitted her birthday party pictures, the gesture nearly brought back a lot of emotion as my precious little girl spent time there last year. She certainly did not have a life threatening illness, as so many children there do, but her stay there was a reminder of how blessed we are to be near such an amazing facility with doctors and nurses who are incredibly gifted.

Mom and talented party planner, Samantha, used our Country Chic Invite and Printable Collection as inspiration for the party’s colors and dessert theme. The party is a gorgeous combination of pinks and delicious desserts. Yum! Enjoy!

Here are some details about the party in Samantha’s own words…
We have been so incredibly blessed with the most amazing family and friends who spoil Kennedy year round. We want to instill the gift of giving in Kennedy as young as we can, and we thought what better way to do that than to give back while celebrating her. Our nephew spent some time at Levine Children’s Hospital over the summer of 2012 and we were so very impressed by the wonderful doctors and nurses there that we decided that is where we wanted the toys to go. It was so eye opening to see how many sick children there are, completely broke our hearts. On Kennedy’s invitation we asked Adria to write a short note inviting them to participate in Kennedy’s First Annual Toy Drive instead of bringing birthday gifts for her. We had such an amazing turn out! We received over 100 brand new toys, books, and dolls that we were able to donate. It’s something we plan to do every year for her birthday as “Kennedy’s Annual Toy Drive”
